Step 1: Read the Guide Renewal Child Care Services Certification Guide
Check the Renewal of Child Care Services Certification Guide in the Resources section on how to apply and what required documentation is needed.
Step 2: Download Renewal Application Form
Download and print the Renewal Application Form for Trainee Level.
Step 3: Complete the Form
Print clearly and complete all sections.
Step 4: List the documentation in the application
Failure to do so will result in the application package being returned to you.
Step 5: Attach Required Documents
Attach either originals or copies of required documentation to the Renewal Application form.
IMPORTANT!
If you send in copies, keep the original documentation until you get your physical Child Care Services Certification renewal certificate. While we accept copies, you might need to provide the originals for verification. If you cannot provide the originals, you might need to complete more PL hours.
Step 6: Sign and Date
Make sure the renewal application form is signed and dated. A typed electronic signature is not accepted.

Recruitment and Retention Grant
Individuals renewing as Trainee Level with combination of other certification Levels (For example, an individual holding Level Three - School and Trainee Level – Preschool) and currently working in a regulated child care service, may be eligible to receive the Recruitment and Retention Grant. To qualify, applicants must be awarded Level I to IV AECENL Child Care Services Certification (including those with a Trainee designation in combination with a level) and are working in a regulated child care setting. The Recruitment and Retention Grant Application must be submitted along with an Initial Child Care Services Certification Application, and no later than six months from the initial certification date. ECE Trainee Bursary
Individuals who hold valid Trainee Level certification, are working in a regulated child care service and are in the process of completing ECE Certificate courses at a provincially recognized post-secondary institution may be eligible to receive the Trainee Bursary.
